Studios & Backlot
Our Bulgarian complex is one of the region's largest and most versatile production facilities, built for scale, flexibility, and speed. It includes four soundstages—from the 1,680 m² flagship stage to a dedicated 480 m² green-screen studio—each designed for high-end film and TV production. The 56,000 m² backlot features a fully customizable American town, Western street, Middle Eastern and Afghan villages, Viking settlement, and U.S. embassy façade. On-site, fully dressed and modular interiors allow for rapid setup and cost-efficient shooting without the need for lengthy construction.
Crew
Bulgaria and Greece offers one of the most experienced and cost-effective film crew bases in Europe. UFO Film Studios collaborates with top-tier local professionals including first assistant directors, production designers, directors of photography, and sound mixers. Most of our crew members have over 15 years of experience on international productions and are fluent in English, Italian, Spanish, and German. All are fully familiar with SAG/DGA rules and operate according to Western production logistics, expectations, and on-set culture.
Camera Department
Our camera rental department features an extensive inventory of both digital and film cameras, including the Alexa 35, RED Gemini, RED Dragon, RED Epic, RED MX, Blackmagic models, and classic film options like ArriCam Lite, Arri 235, BL-4s, Arri 3, and Arri 2. We also offer a wide array of lens sets, including Cooke, Ultra Prime, Elite, Zeiss, and specialty lenses, along with professional-grade camera support systems and custom head rigs. Everything is maintained in-house and ready for international-standard productions.
Grip & Lighting
UFO offers a comprehensive grip and lighting inventory to meet the demands of productions at any scale. Our equipment includes Panther dollies, cranes, Hot Heads, process trailers, SkyPanels, HMI and Tungsten lighting units, Kino Flo systems, Lightning Strikes, blue and green screens, and rigging gear rarely found in other parts of Eastern Europe. Whether you're shooting on sound stages or in remote outdoor locations, we can fully support your lighting design and camera movement needs.
Sound
We provide full studio and field sound packages, including industry-standard Fostex and Sound Devices recorders, radio microphones, booms, mixers, and a wide range of accessories. Our audio teams are fluent in international workflows and deliver professional sound capture in every environment — from controlled stage environments to complex field setups.
Special Effects
UFO has deep expertise in special effects-heavy genres including science fiction, horror, fantasy, and action. Our in-house SFX department includes a full inventory of professional effects equipment and an elite team of weapons masters, pyrotechnicians, mechanical modelers, and effects engineers. With an extensive track record across dozens of effects-driven features, we ensure practical and explosive realism is executed safely, efficiently, and cinematically.
Special Makeup Effects
We provide world-class prosthetics and special makeup services for all genres and production types. Our roster includes highly skilled artists recognized internationally, with experience on titles such as Doom, Wrong Turn, and The Grudge 3. Our teams specialize in custom builds for creature effects, fantasy worlds, horror transformations, battle wounds, and sci-fi aesthetics — always tailored to your creative vision.
Props & Set Dressing
UFO maintains one of the most comprehensive prop and set dressing collections in the region. Our library includes period pieces (Viking, Crusader, Cowboy, Medieval), contemporary furnishings, futuristic tech props, and everything in between. Each standing set is supported by curated prop inventories, allowing for fast, turnkey production starts and detailed dressing at scale. Additional specialty props can be custom fabricated or sourced via partner networks.
Set Construction
Our on-site construction team combines traditional craftsmanship with deep experience in film industry techniques. We offer full-scale scenic carpentry, plastering, welding, scenic painting, rigging, and structural builds. With a large workshop on premises, we can execute complex set designs efficiently, whether replicating a historical village or building a stylized fantasy environment. Wardrobe & Costume Rental
UFO offers an extensive wardrobe department covering a full spectrum of genres and periods. Our costume stock includes period & fantasy (Viking, Crusader, Cowboy, Medieval, Arabic), specialized (Military multi-national, Hazmat, Medical, Astronaut, Sci-fi), and contemporary (Casual, formal, urban, and youth styles in all sizes). Costumes are available for both lead characters and background performers. We can also provide custom tailoring, distressing, and costume coordination services as needed.
Picture Vehicles
With over 30 picture vehicles in-house, we provide American muscle cars, classic and modern motorcycles, military trucks, police cruisers, and custom utility vehicles. Our team of on-site mechanics and fabricators can adapt, paint, or rig vehicles for stunts, action sequences, or special effects. Additionally, we offer access to rare or vintage vehicles through a network of trusted collectors across Bulgaria and Eastern Europe.
Transportation
We maintain a full fleet of production support vehicles for cast, crew, and gear — including costume and makeup trucks, lights and grip trucks, camera vans, mobile generators, luxury director vans, and actor shuttles. All vehicles are maintained by our in-house mechanics and can be adapted for mobile offices, wardrobe changes, or overnight units for remote locations.
Location Equipment
UFO supplies complete mobile production kits to keep your crew comfortable and your shoot running smoothly — even in remote or challenging environments. We offer heaters and cooling units, tents, canopies, and pop-up offices, catering kits, tables, and chairs, and portable restrooms. These resources are ideal for location work in mountainous, coastal, rural, or urban environments, ensuring rapid setup and efficient transitions between locations.
Post-Production & VFX – CineDigital FX
CineDigital FX, a fully owned subsidiary of UFO based in Sofia and Los Angeles, is one of Europe's longest-running and most productive visual effects houses. With over 100 VFX-heavy feature films completed, the studio provides comprehensive services including 3D modeling, digital compositing, animation, simulation, matte painting, and final finishing. CineDigital offers Hollywood-quality standards at Eastern European budgets, and its Los Angeles office ensures seamless collaboration with U.S.-based producers, studios, and post houses.
